White mustard

White mustard (Sinapis alba) is a very fast-growing brassica used primarily for rapid soil cover, nutrient capture and biomass production. Its vigorous rooting system absorbs residual nutrients—particularly nitrogen—that might otherwise be lost after harvest. The dense canopy provides strong short-term weed suppression, while decomposing residues return captured nutrients to the upper soil profile. White mustard is particularly useful when only a short growing window is available between cash crops.
