Niger (Guizotia abyssinica) is a warm-season broadleaf species used in diverse cover-crop mixtures for rapid biomass production and increased botanical diversity. It develops a finely branched root system and grows vigorously during warm summer conditions. Its flowers can provide an attractive food source for pollinating insects, while its residues contribute additional carbon to the soil.
